Hillsboro is Oregon’s fifth largest city
Challenges
The City originally implemented SharePoint WSS 3.0 (2007) around 2010. In 2015, the City started a project to migrate that environment into a new single SharePoint Foundation 2013 environment and successfully migrated the data at that time. However, due to resource prioritizations, the City did not fully complete the migration as originally intended. Instead, select small sites were migrated or developed and the rest used on the Foundation 2013 platform with links back to the WSS 3.0 platform. The originally imported data still resided on the Foundation 2013 platform, but was outdated. In 2018 Hillsboro contacted SimpleSharepoint, to design, lead, configure, and complete this project for the City. This project was to retire the existing SharePoint WSS 3.0 (2007) server and SharePoint 2013 server and migrate existing SharePoint data from those systems into a new SharePoint 2013 farm with a SQL 2014 server backend for data storage.
