Lasell College is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational college located in the Newton, Massachusetts, United States, village of Auburndale. Lasell offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in the liberal arts and professional fields of study.
The Challenge
Upgrade SharePoint 2007 site and creating a new branding for the new site. The old site was a bit of a mess with undocumented features and several Fab 40 templates that had been experimented with. In addition, it was highly desired that Moodle be incorporated seamlessly in the system. Moodle was only integrated and very superficial level and when we ran into security issues they became a challenge.
This required us working very closely with their SharePoint administrator who was new to SharePoint and was not a native English speaker.
What We Did
- We created a new 2010 farm and upgraded the 2007 databases.
- We worked very closely with their SharePoint administrator for interactive training sessions with a collaborative design while educating about the use of SharePoint.
- We successfully incorporated Moodle into the intranet, And it is worth noting but after considerable period of time working with their technical support team to troubleshoot integration issues that it was our team that solved the error and wrote the security integration Bridge.
- The branding was extremely exacting and the requirements. Some areas of it were difficult to achieve within the SharePoint space but we accomplish the goal.

When the portal was launched on time before the semester started it was very well received. Better student experience!
